98. Take a photo of a spider

Okay, so I was squealing and sitting on the sofa behind a cushion with my 300mm lens fully extended, but it’s STILL a photo of a spider!!!

Two of my tasks are to:

72. Identify 100 things that make me happy
73. Photograph those 100 things

When I set this, I did privately think “There’s no way I’ll ever identify 100things that make me happy!” The more I thought about it, however, the more I realised just how many small things enrich my life and all of a sudden I started thinking that 1oo might not be enough! But no, I’m not going to get greedy, so I’ll just identify 100 for now!

I’ve been a shabby at updating my blog – I’m not really sure where the time goes! I’ve decided to tidy it up a little by putting the 100 happy things together – so here they are!

#1Walking in the hills on a Sunday afternoon with my husband before going home to make dinner and iron school uniforms – bliss! (the walking, that is, not the ironing…)

#9 I’m a simple soul. I love birds and could happily spend hours photographing them. I’s one of the best de-stressers I know, so I am going devote more time to it this year – my skirting boards can get dusty!

#10 My husband plays the double bass and drums and has always played in bands. He doesn’t play for the glory or the money (just as well really!), but for the sheer pleasure of making music and seeing him so happy makes me happy too.

#11 My monthly book group – I really adore the Mitchell Library, it’s such a wonderful building. This is the entrance to the Mitchell Theatre, which adjoins the Library.

#12 It’s a bit of a ritual that when I get home on a Friday night, I start cooking with a nice frosty Martini. It symbolises the start of the weekend to me and tastes jolly good too!

Okay, I didn’t really think this one through…I live in Scotland. It rains. A lot. I think I’m going to have to accept that this will be an aspiration, rather than a task! I’ll go out more often in summer and hopefully it will even out the rotten winter days.

I’ve had long hair for the past 10 years and toyed with getting it cut, but found it too easy to stick in a ponytail. Howver, I’ve decided it’s time for a change and as it’s my 37th birthday today, I thought I’d go for the chop, so here it is!

Last year I started a photo-a-day project as part of a very supportive group on Flickr, and a few days ago one of my internet weirdy friends posted about a project to do 101 things in 1001. It sounded really intriguing and as soon as I saw some of the lists compiled by the others, I couldn’t resist joining in. Some people are doing shorter projects to coincide with significant birthdays, others are doing the full 101 things in 1001 days. It’s been a great honour to share the photo-a-day project with them, and I’m really looking forward to sharing this one too! Here’s some information about the project…

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

Why 1001 days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Start Date: 11th January 2009
End Date: 9th October 2011

100. Drink that bottle of wine to celebrate completing my 1001 days!
